Mission Statement



Mission: To approach Owners/Clients with honesty, integrity and an open line of communication. Safety, safety issues, jobsites and our equipment are an extended reflection that will evoke positive recognition from the community as well as current and potential customers and employees.  


Barcon Corporation is a minority-owned business that was formed in March of 1977 by its owner and president, Mr. Fred Barcon. Mr. Barcon operated the company as a sole proprietorship until 1981. In 1981, Mr. Barcon made the decision to license the company under the laws of the State of Arizona to operate as a Corporation. General Engineering license number 95505 A, General Commercial Contractor license number 72893 B-1, Dunn and Bradstreet number 01-455-2764.

Barcon Corporation is a 100% minority owned general contracting and engineering company. The company currently holds minority certificates for the City of Phoenix, City of Tucson, Arizona Department of Transportation, and Maricopa County.

Over the past 40 years, the company has successfully completed projects in Health Care Clinics, Hospitals, Warehouse Industry (both truck shops and storage), Industrial Complex, Site Development, Mining, Office Buildings and Tenant improvements, Mass Concrete Structures, Utility Structures, Diversion Dams, Dams, Roads and Bridges, New construction (single level / multiple level-masonry / structural steel), Historical Renovations, 9 Story Exterior Renovations.

Delivery Methods: Open Market Bidding, Design Build, GMP – Guaranty Maximum Price, T&M – Time and Material.

Customers: Gila County, ADOT, City of Phoenix, City of Mesa, USDA – Forest Service, Army Corps of Engineers, Luke AFB, Resolution Copper Company, Freeport McMoRan, Carlotta Copper Company, Bureau of Reclamation, Phoenix VA, Osborn School District and U.S General Service Administration.
Quality Assurance

Quality is assured through all facets of the company. Our extensive "hands on" management style and vast experience of the key personnel plays a major part in the success of the company.

Customer service is Barcon Corporations top priority. The company takes several important steps to achieve the top level of customer service. Mr. Barcon assigns each project to a quality control project manager, who is responsible for conducting daily and weekly field inspections. The company encourages architects and owners to inspect all the work performed as it progresses, eliminating any disagreements.

Weekly project meetings are held with all subcontractors to resolve any problems that may have occurred on the job and to plan future work. Again, participation at these meetings by the architect and owner is encouraged to ensure that information is properly communicated and any project suggestions are documented for the owner.

Another process Barcon Corporation applies on each project, to ensure quality, is to carefully monitor all costs. This process not only assists in keeping the business healthy, but it also aids the customer in lower job costs. A preliminary cost is analyzed and a budget is created and given to the owner.

Job safety is an important aspect of quality performance. The company believes that each subcontractor and employee is responsible for using safety procedures on the job, properly maintaining all equipment, and reporting any misuse or abuse of property to the appropriate authority. Barcon Corporations management is responsible for providing leadership to the people involved with the project for an accident free workplace. Barcon Corporation maintains a safety manual to guide company personnel, and has appointed Mr. Eric Barcon to oversee that work is completed safely.

Another technique the company utilizes to ensure quality assurance of the project is to review all the plans and specifications and to understand what the customers goals are. All methods of performing the job are evaluated and reviewed by management to correctly and efficiently perform the work.
Safety

Barcon's commitment to a safe work environment and effective risk abatement has resulted in a Workmen Comp modifier of .89; one of the best in the industry. In addition to mandatory safety training, all Barcon employees and sub-contractors are required to attend day-break and weekly safety meetings to identify, access, and manage potentially dangerous tasks. The organization fosters employee to be selected by their peers to act as their safety representative. Consistent safety performance enables Barcon to pass additional savings to project owners and stakeholders.

The most difficult project (you did for us) was demolition of a Sears Automotive Shop and remodeling into offices for the Social Security Administration. Difficult construction problems were encountered with removal of several hoists, which you solved, and you were able to meet all deadlines set the by lease with the General Services Administration. The finished project, even though a very complicated one, was almost free of defects (and) all minor discrepancies were quickly corrected to the full satisfaction of inspectors BEFORE the punch list inspection was completed.
